Meet Junior Ndabaza: #MyTygerMaties60
As part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is introducing 60 future healthcare professionals who are currently in their first year. Meet Junior Ndabaza.
“I’m a pretty chilled guy, who likes to laugh and spend time with his family,” says Junior Ndabaza when asked to describe himself.
Ndabaza decided on studying medicine when his dad fell very ill during his school years and he realised that he wanted to be able to cure diseases. Now he's a first year MB,ChB student at Stellenbosch University, busying himself to come closer to achieving that goal.
Thinking of his father still motivates him. “I was raised by my dad and I work hard so that I can one day provide for him as well as he has done for me,” he says.
He also thinks his dad exemplifies success: “He can take care of his family and has love and respect for those around him.”
Ndabaza says the campus experience thus far has been nice, but admits it took some time getting used to the new workload. He is eager to learn practical skills, such as putting up a drip, and in ten years’ time he sees himself studying towards becoming a neurosurgeon. Fast facts:
