Tygerberg Campus Colleague tests positive for COVID-19
19 March 2020
I can confirm that a member of staff at the Tygerberg Campus who had recently travelled abroad has tested positive for COVID-19. Please note the following:
- The colleague is in self-isolation and is being treated under the supervision of the Provincial and National Departments of Health.
- Close contacts of the person are being identified and the relevant health authorities is in the process of contacting them.
- If you are not contacted, it means that you have not been in close contact with the colleague.
- Exposure of all other colleagues and students at Tygerberg is currently deemed to be extremely low risk and our Management Team has taken all the necessary precautions to ensure that its facilities are safe.
- If you were to develop symptoms (fatigue, fever, shortness of breath, cough, muscle aches), please call one of the advice lines and state clearly that you have had “low risk, casual contact” at Stellenbosch University and you are symptomatic.
