Central Analytical Facilities
What we do
The Central Analytical Facilities support research and development across various fields. We enable researchers and industry professionals to conduct experiments, validate findings and devise solutions to complex challenges. From assisting with advanced imaging to performing detailed molecular tests, our work ensures access to the tools necessary to push scientific boundaries further. CAF collaborates with national and international organisations to enhance research capacity, share knowledge and promote best practices. We endeavour to foster learning, discovery and impactful outcomes with each project.
Our Services
DNA sequencing
Generate accurate genetic data for various health, agriculture and biology applications.
Flow cytometry
Analyse cells and particles in suspension for immunology, cancer and microbiology research.
GC-Mass spectrometry
Analysis of a range of compounds using gas separation only volatile and thermally stable compounds.
LC-Mass spectrometry
Identify and quantify chemical compounds in complex samples for health, environmental and food sciences use.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
Apply magnetic fields to determine the molecular structure, content, and purity of chemical samples for research and clients in various industries.
CT scanning
Conduct high-resolution 3D imaging of structures, supporting studies in engineering and biological sciences.
Neuromechanics
Investigate movement and mechanical aspects to assist research in biomechanics and rehabilitation.
PET CT Scanner
Medical imaging service that combines a PET scan, which reveals how organs and tissues are functioning, and a CT scan, which shows their physical structure, to create highly detailed, single-session diagnostic imaging.
ICP-MS and XRF
Detect and quantify trace elements in various materials for environmental and industrial applications.
Soil & Water Analyses
Analyse compounds and isotopes in soil, plants and water for environmental and commertial applications.
Scanning Electron Microscopy
Using electron imaging tools to investigate the structural, morphological and chemical details of rocks, polymers and biological samples.
Microscopy
Using advanced imaging tools, investigate the structural and morphological details of materials and biological samples.
