This programme is the first step in the training of actuaries. One can describe Actuaries as independent professionals who are experts in analysing and modelling situations involving financial risk and contingent events. They are capable of assessing the risks involved and communicating what the results mean in financial terms. Their work directly involves managing assets and liabilities (such as investments and loans) and associated risks.

Career opportunities

To become an Actuary (Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa) you need to pass the fifteen examinations of the professional body and have sufficient work experience. Successful university studies may result in exemptions from many of these examinations.
