The BA in Humanities is a three-year programme that teaches you to be academically versatile and flexible, and to solve or deal with current problems in South Africa in a wide variety of professions. Further training will prepare you for professions such as teacher (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), psychologist (postgraduate studies in Psychology), language practitioner (Honours and MA in Translation), journalist (BPhil in Journalism) and town planner.

Career opportunities

Minimum admission requirements – NSC/ IEB

- An NSC aggregate of at least 63% (excluding Life Orientation)
- Home Language 50%
- First Additional Language 40%

If you take Organisational Informatics as a university subject, then also:
- Mathematics 50% OR Mathematical Literacy 70%

Minimum admission requirements – International curricula

IEB-ISC

IEB-ISC (NBTs compulsory) IEB-ISC aggregate of at least 65% (excluding Active Citizenry)
- Home Language 50%
- First Additional Language 40%
