PANGeA Early Career Fellowship Programme 2026

The Partnership for Africa’s Next Generation of Academics (PANGeA) invites applications for the 2026 Early Career Fellowship Programme to be hosted at the University of Nairobi from 1 August to 30 September 2026.
The PANGeA Early Career Fellowship is a two-month residential fellowship designed to strengthen research, academic leadership, and professional development among emerging scholars in the Humanities and Social Sciences across the PANGeA network.
The fellowship programme will provide fellows with opportunities for:
- Collaborative research and publication development;
- Mentorship from senior academics within the PANGeA network;
- Training in grant writing, academic publishing, and university leadership;
- Participation in workshops on higher education governance, financial management, and internationalisation.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a PhD in the Humanities or Social Sciences obtained within the last seven (7) years;
- Be a faculty member at a PANGeA member university;
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and research.
Fellowship Support
The fellowship will cover:
- Return airfare (economy class);
- Accommodation;
- Subsistence during the fellowship period.

- Duration: Two months (Residential)
- Dates: 1 August – 30 September 2026
- Host Institution: University of Nairobi
Application Requirements
Applicants should submit:
- A cover letter expressing interest in the fellowship;
- Curriculum Vitae (CV);
- A brief research proposal (2–3 pages);
- A writing sample/publication;
- A letter of support from the Head of Department (HoD) confirming that, if selected, the applicant will be granted leave for the two-month fellowship period.
