Reflections on 2024: Advancing Internationalisation through Collaboration, Innovation, and Impact
As we approach the end of 2024, it is an opportune time to reflect on a year of significant milestones and impactful collaborations within Stellenbosch University's internationalisation agenda. The past quarter, in particular, has been marked by several noteworthy engagements that highlight our commitment to purposeful partnerships and inclusive networks, knowledge exchange, and sustainable impact.
The UNESCO Report Launch marked a milestone in our contribution to global discourse on critical societal challenges. This report has already begun to shape conversations around policy development and innovation. The event brought together thought leaders from across the globe, highlighting Stellenbosch University's ability to convene diverse voices in pursuit of shared solutions.
Equally significant was the 3rd ANIME Annual Event, which brought together members of the ANIME network to advance work in its three core themes: Inclusiveness, Multilingualism, and Excellence. The event provided a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and deepening collaborations within the network. We were proud to see the spirit of partnership and innovation thrive throughout the discussions. Stellenbosch University worked hard to provide the perfect environment to nurture these connections, and we are confident the engagements from the conference will yield meaningful and lasting outcomes for the ANIME community and beyond.
Another notable achievement was the successful conclusion of this year's Trilateral Staff Programme, which once again demonstrated the transformative power of international partnerships. Participants engaged in dynamic academic and cultural exchanges, building bridges between institutions and laying the groundwork for future collaboration. Such programmes are a testament to our belief that meaningful partnerships are key to solving shared challenges and advancing global knowledge.
These engagements and more, exemplify our commitment to fostering innovation, driving excellence, and building strong global networks. I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to all colleagues, students, and partners who have played a pivotal role in our international endeavours this year. Your dedication and enthusiasm are the lifeblood of our global engagements, and your contributions inspire us to reach greater heights. As we prepare for 2025, I am confident that our shared commitment to internationalisation will continue to yield transformative outcomes.
Sincerely,
Prof Hester C Klopper Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Strategy, Global and Corporate Affairs.
