Reimagining Ubuntu in the Post-Colony: Healing Force, or the End of an Idea?
Professor Lesley Le Grange, distinguished professor in the Faculty of Education at Stellenbosch University, and Professor Bernard Matolino, Associate Professor in Philosophy at the University of KwaZulu-Natal will be the presenters at the last in the Ubuntu Dialogues Project webinar series for 2021. Professor Le Grange's work is concerned with ubuntu as part of an indigenous knowledge framework in a decolonialised system of education, and the potential of ubuntu as a healing force in nature, society and the self. Professor Matolino has raised questions about the way ubuntu is applied as a tool for healing, reconciliation and nation building in post-apartheid South Africa, most prominently in an article, The End of Ubuntu, written with Professor Wenceslaus Kwindingwi.
