Bioinformatics and Computational Biology

Science

What is Bioinformatics?

Bioinformatics transforms raw biological data into groundbreaking discoveries by combining computational analysis with deep biological understanding. At the intersection of molecular life sciences, computer science, statistics and mathematics, this field powers innovations in precision medicine, genome engineering and synthetic biology. From decoding genetic sequences to designing intelligent algorithms, bioinformatics is reshaping the future of life sciences.

We create an environment where students and researchers don’t just analyse data – they drive discovery through integrating cutting-edge computational techniques with biological exploration. Our work includes tackling complex challenges that impact the future of health, agriculture and biotechnology.

“From decoding genetic sequences to designing intelligent algorithms, bioinformatics is reshaping the future of life sciences.”

Our Programmes

Inter-disciplinary BSc (Focal area: Bioinformatics and Computational Biology)

This three-year degree integrates Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Genetics and Bioinformatics training. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the molecular sciences.

BSc Hons (Bioinformatics and Computational Biology)

A one-year programme includes coursework on bioinformatics principles, seminars and a supervised research project to develop foundational expertise for advanced study or professional application.

MSc (Bioinformatics and Computational Biology)

A full-time, research-based programme that requires thesis submission. Students explore mutually agreed-upon research topics under the guidance of their supervisor.

PhD (Bioinformatics and Computational Biology)

A full-time, research-focused program culminating in a dissertation. Supervisors agree on research topics and coursework may be required based on academic background.
