Our Work

The Division has the following focus areas

The Centre for Student Counselling and Development (CSCD) at Tygerberg Campus is dedicated to supporting student well-being through a range of specialised services. These include emotional and psychological support via the Unit for Psychotherapeutic and Support Services (UPSS), where students can access short-term individual therapy and participate in group sessions. Academic success is supported by the Unit for Academic Counselling and Development (UACD), which offers guidance on study techniques, time management and stress management. The Unit for Graduand Career Services (UGCS) assists students in preparing for the workplace through career workshops and coaching. The Disability Unit ensures that students with special learning needs receive the necessary support including accessible study materials and assessment concessions. In response to financial challenges, CSCD’s social workers also manage a food security programme that helps students in need. These services are all designed to help students navigate their academic journey while maintaining their mental, emotional and physical well-being.
