New website for SU Legal Services
Stellenbosch University’s Legal Services has a new website.
According to Gerhard Lipp, Senior Director: Legal Services, the previous website “had become outdated and old” and was in need of an update to communicate the significant changes and development that had taken place over the past few years which was not noticeable on the old site.
“Roles and responsibilities in the team had been added and have been further developed. It was time to provide a fresh view on Legal Services and highlight again to the University community the services we offer,” says Lipp.
Legal Services forms part of the Registrar's Division and provide legal advice and support to the students (in limited cases), the staff and the management of Stellenbosch University, with the exception of the Divisions of Human Resources, Innovus and Research Development, as these three divisions have their own legal teams.
The new website aims to provide clarity on the roles and responsibilities of the Legal Services team, contact details and basic information and documentation.
Lipp says that over time the website and confirmation on the website will be developed further and they hope to continuously update the website making documents and information easily accessible to the relevant stakeholders.
Some of the important updated and new information and documents on the website include helpful documents that can be used by stakeholders for their convenience, student disciplinary codes and a video, a schedule of the student disciplinary outcomes and the process requirements for vetting and signing of commercial contracts.
Any Stellenbosch University student and staff member can access the new website. Some documents are protected and should students or staff require access to them, they will have to request access by simply following the steps that will appear on the screen.
