Divison members at the ESC congress 2025. The congress offered exposure to cutting-edge science, a truly global cardiology community, and opportunities to engage with both evidence and innovation at the highest level.
As a team, we were proud to contribute academically: Dr Rajah, one of our PhD candidates, presented an abstract and Prof Weich presented a poster. These opportunities not only showcased our local research but also allowed us to receive feedback and engage in discussion with international experts. For the attending delegates, the congress provided a unique platform to immerse ourselves in the latest advances in cardiology, from guideline updates to late-breaking trials.
What stood out most was the scale and diversity of the program, which brought together voices from across continents and disciplines. Sessions such as the guideline presentations and late-breaking trial discussions were highlights, offering first-hand insight into how new evidence is shaping global practice.
"Overall, the experience was both inspiring and motivating......" Dr A Engelbrecht. It reinforced the importance of connecting our local practice and research to the broader global cardiology community, while also challenging us to think about how best to adapt international lessons to our South African context.
Congratulations!Best wishes to one of our division's mentees in his career ahead!
