Women's Month Celebrations at Stellenbosch University

This Women's Month we are encouraged and excited by the campus events that will explore identity, power history, institutional culture and rediscover silenced histories. A number of our projects and conversations will use the rediscovery of Charlotte Mannya Maxeke who became the first black South African women to graduate with a BSc degree at Wilberforce University in 1902.
These programmes will include:
- The Women's Day Jazz Concert inspired by Charlotte's legacy featuring Gloria Bosman and Mihi Matshingana as well as special jewellery exhibition by Kay Cele on 8 August, 20h00 at the Endler (Tickets R80 Students R30) Tickets will be available at the door and through Computicket.
- “Through the Emulsion" an exhibition by Second year Fine Arts Class inspired by Charlotte Mannnya Maxeke, Visual Arts Building, 7-11 August
- The #Rediscover Charlotte Book Club with Beauty of the Heart by Zubeida Jaffer. The books and hot chocolate kit are available at R180 at the Transformation Office
