Extended degree programmes
The Faculty also offers students the option of doing a three-year degree over an extended four-year period. This is called the extended degree programme (EDP).
How do I qualify to go the EDP route?
If you want to go the EDP route and complete your degree over four years, you need to tick all three of the following boxes:
- You have been admitted to study a Bachelor’s degree.
- You have an average NSC result in the category 60–62,9% (excluding Life Orientation).
- You comply with the admission requirements for the specific programme you want to follow.
We also look at things such as historical disadvantage, the income of your parent(s) or guardian(s), your school’s quintile and the number of places available.
What if I have not been admitted?
If you are a Grade 12 learner who has been provisionally admitted to the three-year mainstream programme in 2022, but do not meet the mainstream programme’s requirements when the NSCs are published in 2023, you can contact Ms Cheryl Richardson at [email protected] and ask that we consider admitting you to the EDP. We will use the same admission requirements mentioned above when we consider your request.
Can I take the EDP route for all degree programmes in the Faculty?
The EDP is not an option for these degree programmes:
- BA in Drama and Theatre Studies
- BA in Law
- BA in Music,
- Bachelor of Music
- BA in Political, Philosophical and Economic Studies (PPE)
- BA in Social Work (from 2023 onwards)
- BA in Visual Arts
Who can I contact if I have questions about the EDP?
