Kamir Arjun, a BAcc Hons alumnus of the School of Accountancy at Stellenbosch University was placed in the top 6 of the 2021 SAICA Trainee Trailblazer awards. Arjun, a 2nd year Deloitte trainee, is also the winner of one of the categories.

At the 2018 December graduation where Kamir received his BAcc degree, he was one of five Project Zero students from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences who graduated.

Project Zero was an initiative to reduce to zero the actual cost of studying at SU for talented students. It enabled students to complete their studies without financial worries or student debt.

According to Kamir, the bursary helped him to achieve his dream of pursuing a degree in the business field. “I love the world of business, it absolutely fascinates me. Ever since I was a young boy, I used to make products and sell them. From that moment, I knew that I needed a set of skills that can empower me to make sound financial decisions so that I can be financially free as an adult, which led me on the journey to becoming a chartered accountant."

At the time, Kamir said he hoped that one day he could provide mentorship to students who are also following the Chartered Accountancy path.
