Simulation-based design of circular economy solutions

Date and duration: 7-10 April 2026

This short course, presented by international expert Prof Markus Reuter, explores the role of stakeholders in the circular economy and how system efficiency can be quantified through exergy analysis. Using HSC Sim in an interactive format, participants will develop digital twins of recycling systems, covering physical separation, pyro- and hydrometallurgy, residue processing, and energy recovery. The course introduces tools such as HSC Sim, life cycle assessment, and AI-assisted optimisation to evaluate recyclability and environmental footprints.

Green Hydrogen Technology

Following an introduction to sanitary principles of engineering and quantitative microbiology, this short course reviews steam, heat, chemical and radiation sterilization of objects, devices and products, filter sterilization of liquids and gases, aseptic fill and finish operations and validation as they are applied in the fermentation, biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
