Where Do I Stand?

Your marks are information — not your identity.

Whatever your semester looks like, this guide helps you see where you are and decide what to do next. Every path has support, and every path has a future.

Take stock of the past semester:

What worked well for me?  | What didn't work as hoped? | What would I do differently? | What did I miss?

Ask yourself — how many of my modules am I struggling with, or have I failed?

Keep going

Passed all, or one or two slipped.

Three or more modules need attention

These bands are a starting point, not a verdict. Wherever you land, the next steps show your path.

You are mostly on track - your foundation in solid.

  • Pick up the pace — reset study strategies for the modules that slipped.
  • Reconnect with your ‘why’ — renew your motivation and long-term goals.
  • Use StudySuccess — book a work session or individual consultation.
  • Build weekly check-ins — track your progress and celebrate small wins.
  • Attend academic work sessions — build on the strategies that already work for you.

Several modules need attention.

Bring others into the picture with you:

  • Book your faculty adviser — get clarity on your situation and options.
  • Speak to a CSCD counsellor — for stress, anxiety, and the emotional load.
  • Seek support before making decisions — and reflect on whether this is still the right path, right now.
  • Understand the practicalities — ask about registration, fees, and renewals.

You are at high risk: seek support urgently / reconsider the path

This is real chance to look at things differently — not a failure.

  • Meet your faculty adviser urgently — your first and most important step.
  • Reach out for emotional support — you don’t have to carry this alone.
  • Explore your options with a support professional before making decisions — this may include academic and wellbeing support, changing your study strategy, adjusting your module load, or, where appropriate, reconsidering your current programme.
  • Redefine your dreams — they can take new shape; every future is still open.

Multilayered approach to academic advising

You don’t need every answer today.

Pick one next step you can take this week — a conversation, a booking, a habit. Small, brave actions change the shape of a semester.

  1. Book an appointment with your faculty advisor or at CSCD.
  2. Sign up for a work session.
