Central Disciplinary Committee outcome - 05 December 2025
28 January 2026
The Central Disciplinary Committee (CDC) on 05 December 2025 via Microsoft Teams, found a student guilty of the following allegations:
The implicated student (a) was found in possession of a cellphone, and/or (b) used the notes to complete some portions of their examination on 06 November 2025.
The misconduct is in contravention of clauses 10.1, 10.2, and 9.8 of the Disciplinary Code for Students of Stellenbosch University (“the Code”).
The implicated student pleaded guilty. After careful analysis of the Disciplinary Bundle, the oral evidence presented through the course of the hearing confirmed, on a balance of probabilities; the student was guilty of the respective allegations.
The CDC panel imposed the following sanctions:
- The student forfeits the relevant module.
- The student is suspended from Stellenbosch University for six (6) months. This suspension is suspended on the condition that the student is not found guilty of similar misconduct for the duration of his academic studies.
- Thirty (30) hours of community service to be completed by the end of the 2026 academic year. This sanction is tied to the suspended suspension. In other words, if the 30 hours of community service are not completed by the deadline, the suspension comes into effect.
- The student must submit a written apology to the lecturer within seven (7) days of receipt of these written reasons.
- The sanction must be published on the Faculty Notice Board.
