Die Afdeling van Pulmonologie by Tygerberg Hospitaal is betrokke by omvattende onderrig, navorsing en kliniese dienste wat verband hou met respiratoriese gesondheid en kritieke sorg.

Die kernfokus sluit in die volledige bestuur van respiratoriese siektes op primêre en subspesialiteitsvlakke, gevorderde diagnostiese en terapeutiese intervensies, asook die bestuur van komplekse kritiek siek pasiënte wat multi-orgaanondersteuning benodig in samewerking met ons intensiewe sorgspan.

Requirements

Minimum educational qualification:
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South
Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist Physician (i.e. needs to be registerable as Medical
Specialist Physician).
Registration with a professional council:
Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
Experience:
None after registration with the HPCSA.
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence.
Willingness to work after hours.
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):

Service delivery will be in the Pulmonology unit and the Department of Medicine’s Critical Care unit.
The basic position will be full-time (40 hours per week).
Commuted overtime is mandatory and includes Pulmonology and ICU after hours calls.
The clinical service includes in-and out-patient management of lung diseases and inpatient management of patients admitted to intensive care.
Teaching post-and under-graduate students in pulmonology is required.
Registration for the MPhil (Pulmonology) degree and completion of the research component is required.
